Creating eye-catching eyes in Adobe Photoshop

I get emails all of the time with questions regarding how I have done things in photo shop. here is one simple thing I do to the eyes to make them stand out among other photos.

I use the dodge tool with less than 10% exposure and brighten up the whites of the eye, and also the color part of the eye.

I then use the burn tool at less than 10% exposure and burn in the dark parts of the eye and the pupil. I also burn in the eye lashes.

This gives contrast between the white and black and make the eyes pop in the photograph!

here is a before and after…the before is on top of the other one.
