I’ve pretty much neglected my business for the past month. It’s hard to maintain with traveling and planning a wedding!!
We went to have our engagement photos taken in Savannah this past weekend. We had such a good time shooting them.
All photos are courtesy of the lovely Mackensey Alexander Photography.
I’m using this for my thank yous!
I LOVE this one. So fitting for a photographer! 🙂
I wanted to do the vintage theme in the engagement photos because our wedding is vintage themed!
It felt strange to be on the other side of the camera again! But now I know what people are feeling when I am shooting their engagement photos. 🙂
I’m currently in Augusta, GA and I’m heading back to Franklin, TN this afternoon. I’m home for 11 days, then I am hitting the road for a few photo shoots in GA & SC! I’m excited to start shooting again.
A little time at the beach…
I think this is my favorite image from the trip.
There’s a calm that is experienced by the ocean. It has the ability to bring peace to the soul, heal the heart and tame the wild. It’s quite an amazing experience to sit and watch a storm roll up on the beach.
I loved how he looks worn out from digging in the sand all day.
Watching the boats come in. Pure joy.
Swimming in jeans at the beach…
“Our memories of the ocean will linger on, long after our footprints in the sand are gone.”
Heading home Saturday…then things are going to get a little crazy!

I’m sitting here on the balcony of this boutique hotel that I’m staying at…called the parrot key resort in Key West.
It’s actually quite nice and stunning here. The water is crystal clear!
I’m exhausted. It’s hard to sleep unless I’m in my bed. But, this hotel bed is mighty comfortable.
I am looking forward to being married and not living out of a suitcase. I never feel completely put together. I’m so scatterbrained when I pack for a trip, that I end up forgetting half of my things…or I never unpack from the last trip and just use the same stuff. I’m a mess.
It’s incredibly quiet and peaceful here. It’s amazing when you have a day completely filled with noise and chaos and then you find that moment of silence…it’s the most overwhelming calm I have felt in a long time. My heart feels rested.
It’s been a stressful few weeks for me and I’m sure more stress will come when I return home. I’m behind on photography work, wedding planning, packing for my big move and a million other things in life. I’ve got 2 months to have 3 showers…a wedding…a move…another shower.
But life is still beautiful…even more beautiful down here. I hope to capture some great photos…
I’m out of town and have very weak internet connection.
Here’s a few photos from my trip.
I’ll update more later. When I get back I’m crazy busy with shooting weddings and portrait sessions!
My life flipped upside down this week. I decided I wanted a short engagement and somehow thought it’d be easy to plan my wedding in a week and a half. I’m going out of town next week and will be gone through mid August, then doing some more traveling at the end of August. So, I decided I had to make all of the BIG decisions in one week. And I’m not one for making BIG decisions…or any decisions at all.
We’ve managed to book the chapel I wanted for the ceremony, a really nice place for the reception, bought my dress & was able to get it a few days later (no alterations needed!!!), I found rings for us both, picked out colors, & am currently looking at bridesmaid dresses. This is insanity. But it’s all falling into place.
While trying to plan a wedding in a week, I’m still working like crazy, editing photos, ordering prints, house-sitting, and somehow have to find time to do laundry in this craziness for my 17 day trip. (How do you pack for that many days?) I think the hardest part is doing all of this and maintaining my long-distance relationship with a man who works night shifts now. Crazy!
Here’s a sneak at some photos I’ve shot this week. I’ve got so many more to edit.
Now, I must run around searching for a dress off the rack for my bridesmaids, because 3 months isn’t enough time to order real ones! AHHH!
Mr. Moneybags popped the question this past weekend. It was more of a sneaky-slip-it-on-her-finger-when-she-isn’t-looking kind of proposal. Sweet. Simple. Us.
We were alone, out in this field we go to when he’s in town. Happiness was playing on the iPod.

It was romantic…until he said that he felt like we were in the midst of a horror film because they always start off with a couple in the middle of nowhere, then a man comes up with a knife and stabs the man.
I screamed. We left.
Isn’t it gorgeous?
Since I’m a wedding photographer, I want to get married this fall. Spring is too busy along with next summer. Next fall is way to long since he lives so far away. So Fall or Winter are our only options. There are only a few Saturdays available this fall that I’m not booked on, so I had to jump on this quickly. I went wedding dress shopping today. And luckily I fit in the dresses off the rack perfectly with little to no alterations, so I’ll be able to get a great dress really cheap & quick. Now, if only I can find a venue in Savannah that isn’t booked this October!
My life has turned crazy these past few days. I have so much to do. I have to get my dress and pick every thing out for the wedding, I have weddings booked to shoot in SC, GA & TN in September, October and November. Several people are planning showers for me, one of which is in Chicago. So I will be doing a lot of traveling and poor Mr. Moneybags will also have to come up to Nashville and Chicago quite a few times. I also have to pack everything and move 400 miles away before my wedding. Craziness.
Anyhow, that’s what I’ve been up to! 🙂
Mr. Moneybags is being very sneaky lately.
I was complaining about being broke the other day because all of my money goes to bills…hospital bills, insurance bills, car loans, school loans, etc. I was going to visit my friend in Knoxville and was upset because I didn’t have any money to go out when I got there. Just enough to eat out twice and gas to get home.
On my way to Knoxville, I stop at McDonalds to get some sweet tea. I open my wallet and inside I found $100.
Today, I told him I was hungry and cranky. A few minutes later, my doorbell rings and a pizza guy is standing there with a prepaid pizza…tip and all. I laughed.
He’s really wooing me lately and I like it! 🙂
Contrary to popular belief, I’m not with him for money either hahaha, I started dating him when we were in college and I made more money than him at the time!
On another note…here’s some photos I’ve been working on…
A few headshots
